Topic: Adoptive Parents on Trauma and  Attachment Disorders

Audra Snyder, an adoptive mother will join us to discuss her personal experiences adopting her son from the foster care system when he was 3 1/2 years old, discovering his attachment disorder and the journey that her and her husband David went on to support their son, Austin.

She is going to share how she was able to learn the methods of rewiring his brain to help heal his trauma and how to best support herself, her husband and Austin.

 

Special Guest Speaker: Dr. Darcia Narvaez

Topic: The Evolved Nest

Darcia Narvaez, is a Professor of Psychology Emerita at the University of Notre Dame. She is the founder of the public and professional educational outreach project The Evolved Nest Initiative whose nonprofit mission is to share her science research into developing appropriate baselines for lifelong human wellness by meeting the biological needs of infants.

This well-being baseline is imperative at this time as the United States ranks 41st out of 41 developed countries in public policies that support families.

Special Guest Speaker: Bette Lamont

Topic: Neurodevelopment Movement and  Reorganization

Bette Lamont is a lead Neurodevelopmental Movement Practitioner. Her focus is on restoring the functions of the Central Nervous System's sensory and motor foundations, that provide the platform for the cognitive, creative, social and emotive cortex, with an emphasis on balanced, non-traumatizing parenting. The tools she uses come from long research and deep understanding of the Developmental Sequence, those movements, reflexes and sensory experiences that mature the brain.

Instructor, Dr. Aimie Apigian


Dr. Aimie is a double Board-Certified medical physician who specializes in trauma, attachment, addictions and addressing trauma on a cellular level. She earned her medical degree at Loma Linda University and has a Masters in Biochemistry as well as a Masters in Public Health. She trained for three years as a general surgeon before changing her career path.

In addition to her medical studies, Dr. Aimie has studied with and participated in Dr. Allan Schore’s Attachment Regulation Theory Study Group. She is a highly-trained somatic experiencing practitioner, trained in NeuroAffective Touch™, Internal Family Systems (Parts Work) and the Instinctual Trauma Response Model™. She continues to attend advanced trainings in Somatic Experiencing™ with Dr. Peter Levine and acts as an editor for Somatic Experiencing International.

She is not one to sit back and talk about problems.Ā  She is a solution-focused action taker- always looking for ways to improve our current method and accelerate the healing journey back to our best health and our best selves.
