Lessons Learned from the Top Trauma-Disease Physicians in the World

- with Dr. Aimie Apigian and Dr. Gabor Maté

1. A Deep Understanding of Trauma as a Universal, Embodied Experience 🌍

  • Trauma is stored in the body and affects everyone in varying ways.

  • Recognizing its impact helps to shift from seeing trauma as an external event to an internal, embodied response.

2. How Trauma Impacts Physical Health and Chronic Diseases 💔🦠

  • Trauma-related stress contributes to chronic diseases like autoimmune disorders and heart disease.

  • Healing trauma addresses root causes of health issues rather than just symptoms.

3. Tools to Connect Safely with the Body and Nervous System 🧘‍♀️

  • Learn grounding, breathing, and body awareness techniques to move from trauma response to safety.

  • Regulate the nervous system to reduce anxiety and physical symptoms of trauma.

4. The Role of Somatic and Parts Work in Healing Trauma 👐

  • Somatic work helps process trauma through body awareness and release.

  • Parts work integrates aspects of the self formed in response to trauma for deeper healing.

5. Insights into Genetic vs. Environmental Origins of Trauma-Related Illnesses 🧬🏞️

  • Chronic diseases are often influenced more by trauma and environment than genetics.

  • Epigenetics shows how trauma affects gene expression and health patterns across generations.

6. Practical Somatic Exercises to Manage Stored Trauma 🛠️🧍‍♂️

  • Learn simple somatic exercises to address trauma without overwhelm.

  • Develop a toolkit of practices to support ongoing healing and well-being.

Gabor and I are hosting a webinar to share our mistakes, lessons learned, and how you can apply them to better navigate your healing journey.

We know the body holds trauma, but many live with this knowledge without the tools to create lasting change. Instead, we're often told to just manage symptoms caused by an unchangeable past.

I want to change that for you. Why? Because I was once in that same position.

Even as a physician, I was the sick patient, struggling to find a clear path to improve my health, relationships, and life. Now, after helping myself and thousands of others, I want to share hope and guide you toward your path.

I’m excited to bring you this opportunity to learn from Gabor's insights!

Aimie Apigian, MD, MS, MPH

Dr. Aimie is a double Board-Certified medical physician who specializes in trauma, attachment, addictions and addressing trauma on a cellular level. She earned her medical degree at Loma Linda University and has a Masters in Biochemistry as well as a Masters in Public Health. She trained for over three years as a general surgeon before changing her career path to help people and train practitioners how to address The Biology of Trauma®.

In addition to her medical studies, Dr. Aimie has trained in trauma therapy modalities. She studied with Dr. Allan Schore on Attachment Regulation Theory, trained in Somatic Experiencing, NeuroAffective Touch™, Internal Family Systems (Parts Work) and the Instinctual Trauma Response Model™ and Psychodynamic Drama.

Her initiation to trauma came from Miguel, whom she adopted from the foster care system during medical school. Because of that, she is not one to sit back and talk about problems. She is a solution-focused action taker- always looking for ways to improve our approach and accelerate the healing journey back to our best health and our best selves.
